The PDE (Professional Designation Examination) has been introduced by the EAAB to ensure Real Estate agents and principals enjoy the surety of being recognized as an approved professional after completing the NQF 4 or 5 Qualifications.

3. The professional designations that may be used by qualifying estate agents
3.1. Estate agents who have passed the PDE 4, and who hold a valid fidelity fund certificate issued by the EAAB, are entitled to use the designation of Professional Practitioner in Real Estate (“PPRE”).
3.2 Estate agents who have passed the PDE 5, and who hold a valid fidelity fund certificate issued by the EAAB, are entitled to use the designation of Master Practitioner in Real Estate (“MPRE”).
3.3 Estate agents who have passed the PDE 4 as well as the PDE 5, and who hold a valid fidelity fund certificate issued by the EAAB, are entitled to use both the PPRE and MPRE designations.
In order to qualify for the PDE, the agents need to have achieved the following:
- Be in possession of the SSETA Competency Certificate for FETC Real Estate NQF 4 (Full Status Agents) or National Certificate Real Estate NQF 5 (Principal Estate Agents)
- Have been exempted and certificated from the FETC Real Estate NQF 4 (Full Status Agents) or National Certificate Real Estate NQF 5 (Principal Estate Agents)

FEES AND PAYMENT PROCESS: CALENDER YEAR 2015
§ A fee of R800.00 is payable for PDE 4 in order for the application to be processed;
§ A fee of R1050.00 is payable for PDE 5 in order for the application to be processed;
Only credit card and EFT payments will be permitted; Payments can also be made by visiting the EAAB offices in Sandton and enrolling online at the EAAB offices;
It is important to use your 7 digit reference number for the allocated payment which, can be obtained or verified before payment is made, via the EAAB Call Centre on Tel: 087 285 3222
Once the PDE Registration is confirmed, the next step is to secure and obtain the EAAB Study Guide. Below is an excerpt from the EAAB Website.
Obtaining the study material
The study material for both the PDE 4 and the PDE 5 may be ordered directly from the EAAB. The necessary order form may be accessed by intending candidates from the EAAB’s website, namely, www.eaab.org.za.
§ The price of the one-volume PDE 4 study material is R670,00 while the postage and packaging surcharge, applicable when the material is not collected directly from the EAAB offices, will be R150,00.
§ The EAAB is presently able to supply the two-volume PDE 5 study material to PDE candidates at no cost since the material was sponsored by the Services SETA. Intending PDE 5 candidates are advised, however, that once stocks of the Services SETA-sponsored study material are exhausted they will be required to purchase the material at a total price of R950,00 for the two-volume set. The postage and packaging surcharge, is R200,00 for the two-volume set.
